Mini beasts!

Our topic in EYFS this half term is ‘Nature Explorers’.

In Art we have started making 3D models of minibeasts and will be completing these over the next few weeks.
We are beginning to learn the songs for our Summer Performance and the children are very looking forward to performing it to you. We will be sending home some words to learn next week and a note to say what minibeast your child will be and items they may need as part of their costume.
We have been practising doubling numbers in Maths - you can do this at home. We have been using our fingers to show doubles of numbers and have been doubling spots on ladybirds then writing the doubling number sentence.

In Phonics we continue to  work hard to learn our Phase 3 phonemes (digraphs and trigraphs)  and many of us are reading and writing CVCC and CCVC words (ask us and we can tell you what these are), learning to read and spell our tricky words and writing simple captions using these and our learnt phonemes.
In RE, we have been completing our work on Friends. We read from the Bible that Jesus loves us and he wants us to love each other. We thought about how we can show our love for each other in school and then asked God to help us do this. Our prayers are displayed on our RE board. To finish each lesson, we have really enjoyed singing the song ”You can count on me” by Bruno Mars. The lyrics remind us all how to be a good friend.

We are looking forward to Arts and Muticultural Week, which starts on Monday and the children will be printing their own designs onto t shirts, making minibeast masks and will be taking part in a drumming workshop.
