Handwashing and Water
Over the past few weeks in class we have been learning all about water and what we use it for.
We made some jelly with Mrs Stocks and really enjoyed tasting it, it was delicious. In Literacy we then wrote our own instructions about how to make Jelly.
We talked about how important it is to wash our hands and what could happen if we didn't. On Tuesday, Mrs Stocks bought into class her special hand washing machine. We washed our hands and then put on some special hand cream and put our hand inside the machine. If we saw any purple marks on our hands, this showed us that our hands were not very clean and we went and washed them again.
We then placed some flowers in water and added different food colouring. We have been checking each day to see if the flowers absorb the water and change colour.
In Maths this week we have been learning all about Capacity and learning how to recognise and describe how much containers hold and using different capacity terms. We have enjoyed filling and emptying different sized containers during our Learning Through Play.
In PE we went up onto the school field and enjoyed playing with the parachute. We had to hold on very tight as it was very windy.
Next week in class we are going to be learning about things that travel on and in water. If you child has anything at home linked to this theme they are welcome to bring it into school. We are also going to be learning about Pirates.
May I take this opportunity to say thank you for welcoming me back to school and for flowers that I received whilst I was unwell.
Many Thanks and have a wonderful weekend !
