Summer 1 week 4

Wow, what a busy few weeks we have had in Reception class.  The children have enjoyed learning about the different types of animals and their habitats. Last week we focused on pets.  We had a visit from Sky and Hazel, Tabetha's pet guinea pigs.  We have also had a role play pet shop with a variety of unusual pets and the children have been learning about money and the value of coins.
The children have made their own hanging baskets which they can watch and nurture over the coming weeks.

The highlight of the week has been our trip to Aldenham Country Park today which was a tremendous success and the children had a ball. The morning was spent exploring the farm, and the children had the opportunity to feed and pet the animals, watch the lambs being fed, goat milking and visit the other animals on the farm. The children adored the baby chicks, goslings and ducklings which were only a few days old.

After a lovely picnic lunch, the children had fun in the playground before setting off to 100 Aker Wood in search of Winnie the Pooh.

Thank you to all the parents who helped make today such a fruitful and memorable trip for our children.

Next week we will continue our topic of farm animals with the story of Farmer Duck in Literacy.  In RE, we will pursue the theme of Good News by looking at the feast of Pentecost. In Mathematics, we will be focusing on number formation and the properties of shapes.
Hope you all have a lovely weekend.
Angela Moran.
