We had an exciting start to this week, watching a theatre group perform ‘Robin Hood’. The performers made an excellent job of keeping both the children and adults captivated. The children then revisited the story in their ‘explore and learn’ by re-enacting the story, making their own bow and arrows and making their own theatre productions. The story linked well to our topic books and stories, where we were looking at the structure and characters in a story. As part of our International Stories focus we listened to ‘Charlie's Home’ and looked at homes in other countries. We then made books of ‘Our Dream Home.’ Thank you to Mrs Ashcroft and Mrs Linnane for coming in to share stories from other countries. Next week we are going to be celebrating Chinese New Year.
In Mathematics this week we have started to look at time on the clock. The children are quickly recognising times on the clock e.g. lunchtime and home time. Next week we will be looking at ordinal numbers and positional language.
This week we finished our RE topic ‘Celebrations’ by listening to the story of the ‘Presentation of Jesus’ and taking part in some role play. Thank you to parents who have sent in pictures of their children taking part in a celebration; they have been added to their child’s learning journal. If any parent has not sent in a photograph of their child taking part in a celebration e.g. wedding, christening, birthday, can they please do so.
More moments from the week.
On Wednesday morning next week, we will be visiting Harpenden library. Thank you to the parents who have offered to help - we will be in touch with you early in the week with final arrangements.
Parents and Carers are also invited in this week, at the end of the day, to share their child’s learning journal with them. If you haven’t already done so please sign up for a day. Thank you.
Enjoy your weekend.
